Imagine you are the worst market timer ever. How
might you have fared with your investments in the stock market. I saved an
interesting article from CNBC’s web site about four years ago. It is the story
of “Bob”, the world’s worst market timer. Bob made his initial investment in
1973 right before a 48% drop in the S&P 500. He held on and finally had the
nerve to invest again in September 1987, right in front of a 34% crash. Still,
he held on and made two more investments before he retired. One right before
the 2000 crash and then again right before the 2007 crash. I sure don’t want to
be standing next to Bob during a lightning storm. How did Bob do after 42 years
of such stellar market timing? Well, he invested $184,000 all told, and when he
portfolio was worth $1.16 million. You might pull this out and read it
every time you think you’re smart enough to time the market.
I thought Mueller’s press conference was bizarre,
but I won’t go into my thoughts on it. Rather, here is what two very bright
conservatives who write for PowerLine had to say. Robert

The Fresno Grizzlies, AAA affiliate of the
Washington Nationals, showed this Ronald Reagan Memorial
Day video and later apologized. For the reason why, go to the
3-minute mark on the video where it shows the “enemies of freedom”. LOL
So Chinese television is using

The unfortunate aspect of it is that Trevor Noah is right about their lead in
Things are bad in Venezuela. How
bad? The simple economics of being a successful mugger
just aren’t working. Their expenses are higher than their income. It’s so bad
that criminals can’t afford to buy bullets. It turns out that, at $1 per
bullet, a 15-round clip of bullets costs more than the criminal is likely to be
able to steal. This according to “Dog” the mugger. “El Negrito,” an associate
of Dog’s, has found it increasingly hard to support his wife and daughter.
“Firing a bullet is a luxury now,” he said. He is considering trying his luck
CBS has the clammydamps over the fact that U.S.
troops attending a Memorial Day address by President Trump in Japan may have
violated DOD rules. And as we all know “rules are rules.” Get over it. Navy
spokesman Samuel Boyle told CBS that “Navy
leadership is currently reviewing this instance to ensure that the wearing of
the patch does not violate DoD policy or regulations.” The patches in question, worn by crewmen of
the USS Wasp, had an image of the President surrounded by “Make Aircrew Great
Again.” If the Navy has any sense, they’ll drop this one before they generate
some bad publicity. Navy brass has a lot more to worry about.
are out of control! We need some serious enforcement of the “do not

Never been a fan of this guy. Women have been coming
out of the woodwork over the last two weeks and now Tony
Robbins has been dropped from his role as
chief of investor psychology and removed from the advisory board at Creative
Planning, a $38 billion registered investment adviser.
A sad commentary on the state of history instruction
in our educational system. These are incoming college freshmen being asked questions that I expect every one of you know the answer to. It’s sad
that these young men and women graduated from high school with such a gap in
their knowledge of history.

I suspect it’s been that way since we were hunter gatherers.
As Stephen Green says, Trump Derangement Syndrome
makes Bush Derangement Syndrome look like a mild head cold. Hollywood

Making stupid decisions always has unintended
consequences. One is that biological females are gradually
being replaced on the winner’s dais. The NCAA has a Transgender Handbook. I’m
not making this up. Here’s a particularly ridiculous passage from it.
According the NCAA’s Transgender Handbook, “According to
medical experts on this issue, the assumption that a transgender woman
competing on a women’s team would have a competitive advantage outside the range
of performance and competitive advantage or disadvantage that already exists
among female athletes is not supported by evidence.”
I didn’t watch this live, but I did pull up the video clip
and watch. It is the 2019 National Memorial Day Concert. It’s an hour and a half
long. If you don’t want to watch the whole thing, I recommend you go to the
13:20 mark and watch the segment on D-Day and then at the 18-minute Sam Elliot’s
recitation of a memoir that Sgt Ray Lambert wrote. It is powerful. Also, the Vietnam
story at minute 31.
