The President’s amnesty proclamation dominated the news yesterday and enough has been and will be written about it that I’m not going to wade in. We have laws on the books that should be enforced or amended. It’s not as complicated to me as some seem to want to make it. We have folks we’ve elected to wrestle with such things based on feedback from their respective electorates. They damn well better do the job they were elected for or we can swap them out in a few years for some who will. One of the real awful aspects of the President’s proclamation is that it is likely to renew the stampede over the border that has overwhelmed our ability control. If I had one suggestion to make about the whole thing it would be a ZERO TOLERANCE policy to illegal aliens who commit crimes. My recommendation is incarceration with no bail, punishment if convicted, followed by immediate deportation to Southern Chile if feasible.
Before I leave the subject, I saw this. Give me a blanking break! Now U.S. citizens visiting Mexico are probably going to start swimming the Rio Grande, too, in order to get into Mexico. The world has turned upside down!
This is just too over the top to even comment on. I’ll let you read it and be incensed. It’s the kind of thing that just causes apoplexy. What kind of parent would allow their child to participate in something as perverted as this?
Holy smoke, Batman! Is this a cool toy or what? As the article states, it’s just the thing you might need to help you escape the crazed villain’s secret lair. Looks like a pretty good personal defense weapon to me for the person who doesn’t want to pack heat of the lead variety. So much for the ole iWatch. Apple has been seriously upstaged!
If you like reading on a Kindle device, you need this link. About 90% of the books I read these days are ones I get on my iPad Kindle app. This is a great resource. You can, for instance, download the entire set of the Harvard Classics for free.
How to hold your breath for 17 minutes and 4 seconds. Fascinating TED talk by David Blaine.
In honor of the anniversary of the publishing of Origin of the Species by Charles Darwin on this day in 1859, we present this year’s winners of the Darwin Awards.
And finally from my own version of Bon Apetit.
